Pantone Classic Blue the new color of the year 2020
Yesterday December 4th, PANTONE has released the PANTONE Classic Blue the new color of the year 2020, an elegant and simple color that according to them will represent the trend of the new year. Described as “a reassuring presence instilling calm, confidence and connection”, the new color replaces the Living Coral, which has been the color of the year of 2019.
The American color company started to chose a color of the year in 2000, exactly 20 years ago. Since then, they have released several colors which inspired several industry, like graphic design, fashion design, clothing, home furnishing and products packaging. The selection of the annual color requires a deep analysis of the actual trends but also to the upcoming events.
That’s what Leatrice Eiseman said regarding the classic blue color. This shade is associated with “the return of another day”, associated with communication and clarity, it helps to focus and concentrate, it brings a sense of peace and tranquillity. Blue encourage us to look beyond and expand our communication, expand the thinking perspective.
Even tough I prefer bright colors, I personally find the classic blue mystic and peaceful. I like it, and I think it can express well the elegance, the trust and the seriousness. Basically is a color that I would use in a future project whether is personal or for a client, especially if the message to deliver to an audience is “expand thinking”.
