Lumé – Snails Delicacies
Lumé is the name of a line of Italian food products made from snail meat. These delights originate from the idea of two young entrepreneurs, who follow personally the manufacturing process, from raising the snails to processing their meat.
Origin of the name
After an in-depth study of the Italian and international snail market, we created the name “Lumé”, which derives from the Italian word for snail, Lumaca, crossed with the word paté.
Since France is one of the main consumers and producers of snail-based food products, we chose a French-sounding name.
The main font used to design the logo is a sans serif (Signika), with a simple, curvy and dynamic shape, perfect for the message we wish to get across.
For the business pay off and brand printing we chose Gill Sans, another clear and incisive sans serif font.
The logo’s font underwent some modifications in the kerning process, but especially on its most visible detail, that is, the acute accent placed on the final “e”.
The grave accent on the letter “e” underwent a radical change because it was replaced with an accent reminiscent of the shape of a snail shell, faithfully recreated using Fibonacci sequence.
Another important but less visible detail is the shape of the letter l, reminiscent of a snail’s tail, head and folded shape.
For the study of the colors to assign to each product we sought inspiration from the colors of the “Aspersa Maxima” snail, the type of snail used to make these products.
Once created the color palette, we assigned it to each individual product.
For the logo representing the entire product line we chose a dark gray, the main color of the “Aspersa Maxima” snail, commonly known as “Gros Gris.”
Each logo may be applied on a white background, but also on other carefully chosen backgrounds creating an alternative color palette.
